Opera is normally a beautiful-sounding drama that nobody - except the Italians! - can understand. So when Westlink live-streamed the broadcast of Gianni Schinni, which thirty CRC's across WA including Kununurra tuned in to, they included the subtitles, so everyone could understand the story of the production. It was a fantastic idea! It proved to be a funny, witty story of a greedy family desperate to change the will of their recently deceased uncle in order to get the money for themselves, rather than hand it over to the dreaded monks. Enter stage right Gianni Schinni, a clever man with a plan to help them, and himself in the process, by way of disguise. |
25 opera fans and spectators arrived at the Kununurra Picture Gardens for Perth’s live production and thoroughly enjoyed the show. Gianni Schinni’s length and humour was a hit, as was enjoying it with subtitles. The breeze was perfect. Thanks to Westlink especially, and the Kununurra Picture Gardens for your support. Hopefully next time the opera is in town, Kununurra will continue to come and enjoy it in this unique manner! |
