This decision has been met with a mixture of responses and emotions in town, with many feeling that it's yet another blow to our regional communities in the East Kimberley. We're too far away and too hard to get to.
We all know that's the truth, we are hard to service - it's a long way, it's hot, it's wet, it's remote, it's tough. But that's why we love it! People have to make an effort to get here! People have to be tough to live here, people have to be resourceful and adaptable to live here!
Residents in the East Kimberley can still access The West in it's entirety via their online subscription services. They offered some great incentives for residents to take this opportunity up. But we realise that not everyone is comfortable in adapting to new technolgies and ways of reading their daily paper.
The Community Resource Centre wants to help residents adapt to this new way of reading the West. We are offering free classes in February for those who would like to take up the digital subscription services offered by the West Australian.
In discussions with the Subscription team at the West, they have offered to extend their offer of a half price 12 month subscription in order to allow as many residents as possible to get online and back in touch with their papers.
If you or anyone you know would like to take advantage of this offer, please call the CRC
